Tim Shephard is Vice President, Business Development Strategy & Operations for Lockheed Martin Space.  In this capacity, he is responsible for leading both domestic and international business development activities.

Tim has over 28 years of business development experience in domestic and international markets. Global Corporate VP with 28 years A&D experience: deal origination, campaign planning, execution and management of geographically distributed teams. Responsible for above plan growth strategy and execution of hybrid commercial business models for defense, security and ‘new space’ portfolios. Twenty-five years spent outside the United States resident in Europe, Asia, Middle East, India, Africa and Latin America. Strategic emphasis on monetizing the export of co-production ‘sovereign solutions’ over simple product sales with the following accretive outcomes: sustainable long-term cash flow, reduced FCPA risk, reduced competitive risk, and an embedded status within customers’ domestic strategic defense supply chains. Leveraged to both avoid competing on price while simultaneously driving future sales through active customer engagement influencing doctrine and emphasizing own-enterprise value propositions/core competencies.

Prior to his role at Lockheed Martin, Tim was Corporate Vice President for International Business Development for Orbital ATK Inc. In this role he drove a 400% revenue growth in all divisions from Space to armaments. He had the responsibility for leading the expansion of international legal entities, joint venture partnerships, agents, and global staffing/talent sustainable expansion.

Previously, Tim was the Regional Vice President for Northrup Grumman’s Electronic Systems division for the Americas, EU, Israel, and NATO. In this role, he oversaw 110 Countries with over $6B. Tim rebuilt NG’s European operations from staffing, budget, to subsidiary strategy and parent company engagement. He advised on capture strategies, Mergers and Acquisition projects, competitor/peer team agreements, as well as assuming leadership roles in Europe’s aerospace and defense industry forums.

Tim earned his bachelor’s degree in History from Oxford University. He also holds an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Sloan School of Management) where his MBA thesis was on exportable ephemeral networks. He is a graduate of the executive development program at University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

Tim serves as the current Vice-Chairman for the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) International Council as well as serving on an advisory group for a Silicon Valley tech company. He previously served as the National Defense Industry Associations representative to NATO.
