Michael Smith

Government Relations, Walgreens

Michael is currently Senior Regional Director of Government Relations for Walgreens responsible for a nine state region in the southwest and mountain west, including Colorado. He has more than 20 years of political, government and business experience. Prior to joining Walgreens eight years ago, Michael held positions on U.S. Senate campaigns, Capitol Hill, and with federal and state agencies as a liaison to lawmakers and their staffs. Michael earned a B.A. in Political Science from Arizona State University and an M.B.A. from Loyola University Chicago. He lives in Denver with his wife and two children.

If you could live in a different era, which one would it be and why? The future – I want to see how all this plays out.

What is your favorite piece of advice?
Don’t lose focus of what’s most important.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Time with family: watching movies, skiing, playing catch with my kids and vacation!

Golf Caddy – importance of customer service, attention to details and going the extra mile.
